Sing Praise to God, Your Creator!

I have been reminded day after day lately how incredibly awesome God is. He has created everything – EVERYTHING – to PRAISE HIM!

I had the privilege of attending Sunday school with my 3 year old granddaughter recently. They were learning that “God said it was GOOD,” when He created the universe, night, day, animals, plants and that it was VERY GOOD when He made man and woman. It was fun to hear the 3s repeating that God made all things Good! Later I was out planting tulip and crocus bulbs with my granddaughter and we talked about the dirt and how God made that good. How it takes the sun and water to help the flowers grow and God made them good. Then she screamed at the worm and that it was “yucky” as only a 3 year old girl can screech. But I had the opportunity to pick up that worm and watch it as it wiggled and reminded her that God made ALL things good.

This morning around the garden center we were watching butterflies, bees and hummingbirds all gathering pollen and nectar from different flowers. It seemed like in their busyness they were also stopping to thank the Lord, their Maker. Yesterday there was a heavy frost on the foliage. As the sun began to kiss the frost it melted and the droplets seemed to be singing praise to their Creator. The steam rising from the river this morning in the sunrise appeared to be lifting its misty hands in praise to God.

How much more should we, who have been blessed with our Savior and Lord, lift our hearts in complete praise and worship to God our Creator. We are so incredibly blessed to be able to see and enjoy God in such glorious ways.

Praying you will have the blessing of SEEING God, your Creator, in incredibly beautiful ways this week ~ Faye

The Dwelling Place of God

“Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”   1 Corinthians 6:19-20

(c) unknownI read this after having watched Louie Giglio’s Indescribable video where I was reminded how incredibly great God is that He holds the entire universe between the span of His thumb and fingers. Then preparing for a Bible Study on Samuel, I was reminded how God called Samuel specifically in the middle of the night to begin his ministry as judge, prophet and high priest.

My devotional for that day went on to talk about our bodies being the temple of God.  God didn’t buy us to make us His slave, but to make us HIS DWELLING PLACE, to FILL US WITH HIS VERY PRESENCE!  Just as the High Priests had to be pure to come into God’s dwelling place in the Temple, so we must keep our dwelling place pure. We must get rid of all the sins that hinder us from being a pure and beautiful dwelling place for God.  God wants us to know the joy of honoring Him with our bodies.

How incredible – the God of the universe CHOSE to send HIS SON to save us and DWELLS IN us through the power of His Holy Spirit. I’m humbled, honored and awestruck at our AMAZING GOD!

Praying we all appreciate the blessing of being challenged to live in the knowledge that we are the DWELLING PLACE OF GOD  ~ Faye

The Breadth of His Hand

I just finished rewatching Indescribable by Louie Giglio.

I am so awestruck at the depth of God’s love for us and the vastness of His glory.  If you haven’t watched it, you really should make time to.  It just blows you away at how completely indescribable God is.  Giglio takes a look at our universe – The Milky Way Galaxy – and then goes out billions of years thanks to NASA’s explorations and photographs.  What he shares is utterly amazing, mind-boggling, yes – even indescribable.  He gave this talk during Chris Tomlin’s Indescribable tour.

Indescribable – performed by Chris Tomlin
Songwriters: Story, Laura; Reeves, Jesse;
From the highest of heights to the depths of the sea
Creation’s revealing Your majesty
From the colors of fall to the fragrance of spring
Every creature unique in the song that it sings
All exclaiming
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
All powerful, untamable
Awestruck we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God
Who has told every lightning bolt where it should go
Or seen heavenly storehouses laden with snow
Who imagined the sun and gives source to its light
Yet, conceals it to bring us the coolness of night
None can fathom
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
All powerful, untamable
Awestruck we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing, God
You are amazing, God
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing God
All powerful, untamable
Awestruck we fall to our knees
As we humbly proclaim
You are amazing God
Indescribable, uncontainable
You placed the stars in the sky
And You know them by name
You are amazing, God
Incomparable, unchangeable
You see the depths of my heart
And You love me the same
You are amazing, God
You are amazing, God

What struck me was a quote from Isaiah 40:12:

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand
or marked off the heavens with the span of his hand?
Who has gathered the dust of the earth in a measure
or weighed the mountains in a balance
and the hills in the scales?

I like the New Living Translation and The Message since we don’t talk about the “span” of a hand too often.  (A span is the distance between the thumb and the pinkie.)

Who else has held the oceans in his hand?
Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers?
Who else knows the weight of the earth
or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?

Who has scooped up the ocean
in his two hands,
or measured the sky between his thumb and little finger,
Who has put all the earth’s dirt in one of his baskets,
weighed each mountain and hill?

After watching photos that go out farther and farther into the universe – to the universe we know of at this time – then to read Isaiah 40:12 – GOD MEASURES THE HEAVENS BETWEEN HIS THUMB AND LITTLE FINGER – I’m speechless.  Hold out your hand and LOOK at the span your hand encompasses.  It might span a piece of paper, a book, a stapler, or a pencil. God’s HAND spans the UNIVERSE!  The photo at the top is JUST of the Milky Way Galaxy where we live. It doesn’t include the entire universe as we know it today. How incredible is our God!

Our God truly is indescribable, and I’m glad He is. For if I could describe Him, He wouldn’t be God.

Enjoying the blessing of being abundantly awed at the magnitude of our God ~ Faye
